Focus Clubs
Norfolk has 21 Focus Clubs (listed below), so what are the possible advantages?
- As a focus to the community priority for funding. This of course cannot be guaranteed but with the Strategic Plan for Cricket about to be presented to the government, whereby funding will be devolved directly to governing bodies who show they are capable of handling direct funding, clubs who have worked to become Focus Clubs will be high on the agenda of the national governing body for cricket. (ECB?FCF)
- The "Kite Mark" reassures parents that their child is in a safe environment
- Hub for use of facilities for local non-focus clubs - income generation.
- Juniors large source of income
- Good administration (website, etc.) likely attraction to new blood to the county for both seniors and juniors.
- Centre of activity, for example festivals, club umpires courses.
- More likely to access bursaries for professional training purposes.
- District Councils more likely to help clubs who have clearly defined aims and objectives and who have efficient administration in place.
- Schools will view the "safe, effective, friendly" scenarion in a good light, likely to lead to more / stronger school partnerships.
- In the minds of the ECB, Lords Taverners, Sport England, Governemnt and Education, Focus Clubs are likely to be high on their agenda for development.
- As a member of a District Development Group able to "do things" in a better position to access PESSCL (PE School Sport Club Links) funding.
- Sportsmatch applications supported by the CDO likely to succeed!
