The Breckland Cricket Festival 2013

The Breckland Cricket Festival 2013

Schools from Mattishall Junior, Ashill Primary, Scarning Primary and Watton Junior competed in the 2013 festival with each playing in a round robin event.

The weather at Garboldisham Cricket Club was superb with some cricket to match. Scarning looked by far the strongest team and won all of their group matches from Watton in second place.

Mattishall brought a very young team who will have benefitted from the experience and were edged out of third place by Ashill.

In the final Scarning scored 260-6 which proved far too much for Watton who lost far too may wickets to finish 182-11. Ashill scored 239-2 to finish 3rd with Mattishall 212-4.

Other schools who received coaching throughout the summer term were Dereham St Nicholas, Toftwood, Caston and Carbrooke as part of the programme.

Sports Development Officer from Breckland Council Stefan Clifford presented the trophy to Scarning ( pictured ) and again praised the value of the programme and confirmed his ongoing support for 2014.
