Special Schools - Kwik Cricket 2014

Three Special Schools competed in the annual Indoor Kwik Cricket championships held at the UEA Sports Park in February :

Fred Nicholson School from Dereham

The Warren School from Lowestoft

Sidestrand Hall who entered two teams following a late withdrawal.

Each school played each other in a round robin traditional Kwik Cricket competition under the watchful eyes of umpires Lewis Denmark & Alex Bates.

Sidestrand have been traditionally strong in this KS4 event and so it proved again by winning both their matches before lunch as did Fred Nicholson so the afternoon match was played out as a ' final '. Sidestrand batted first setting a formidable total of 177 - 3 wkts which Fred Nicholson failed to match finishing their innings, after 8 overs with 134 - 6. In the other match The Warren beat Sidestrand B to finish in third spot.

The Sidestrand A are pictured with the NCB trophy and medals.

Kevin Denmark, who organised the event said '  Another great day with some good competition, congratulations to Sidestrand and big thanks to their teacher Neil Patrickson who is due to retire at the end of the summer '
