The Lady Taverners Under 15 report 2014

This year’s event was a keenly contested affair with the overall competition result not decided until the final over of the final match with pre-tournament favourites North Walsham High School just getting the better of the girls from Lynn Grove High School by 9 runs.

Six High Schools took part and played each other in a round robin competition held at The UEA SportsPark with matches played over eight overs per innings.

Lynn Grove set the early standard with a huge score of 147 – 0 against Taverham High School with dark horses Northgate High School winning a narrow encounter against Flegg High School by 7 runs.

Newcomers to the event Cromer Academy got off the mark in their second match but failed to build on that and just edged out Taverham in finishing 5th. Northgate overcame Flegg into 4th place.

Over the winter all the girls have received coaching through The Chance to Shine Scheme and this was reflected in the overall standard of play which continues to improve year on year.

North Walsham High School , who remained undefeated, received The Lady Taverners   trophy  ( pictured ) and now go on to represent The County at the regional event at the beginning of April. The winners and runners received medals and all girls received a certficate

Kevin Denmark, who put the day together, said that he was delighted with the standard of play and confirmed that the plan for 2015 is to expand the competition to more schools and run qualifying rounds during January and February.

Finally huge thanks to all who took part, the teachers for their enthusiasm and The SportsPark for hosting
