'M.W.White' Norfolk U17’s Season Report 2014

2014 was an interesting year with a no named squad and players selected on performance in the winter and for their clubs.

The players performed well. Top order batsmen Freddie Ruffle, Sam Hunt, Alex Levinson and Will Rogers scored well with support from Chris Read and Conner Green.

The bowling saw Tom Oxley bowl quick with Jack Timmins and Kieran Pask plus others taking wickets consistently. Rivers King, Will Rogers and Caleb Futter led the spin attack and were economical too.

In the two day format, they won 2 including bowling Hunts out twice, drew one, but lost to Herts who won the division. In the one day competition, having won all four games, they lost to Wiltshire in the semi finals where they failed to turn up as a team. This was a disappointing end to the season in a game that they should have won.

A number of players from younger age groups played this year. From the Under 15's Will Rogers scored 92 and took 5 wickets in the semi-final, Aaron Dhesi and Alfie Woodrow both played matches as did Tyler Murphy, Hudson De Lucchi and Flynn Drinkell from the Under 13's.

The team played well as individuals but the traditional team ethic was missing this season and as such we will operate a named squad for 2015.

Thanks must go to the grounds that supported us this year. Garboldisham, Halvergate and Old Buckenham and the support from the parents. Special thanks goes to Neil Bridgstock who is retiring as manager this season. He has been a great help on and off the field for a number of years and will be missed for next season.
