Flegg High School Win Boys Chance to Compete U15's 2015

Chance to Compete U15’s 2015 – Wednesday 25th March – UEA Sportspark

The Under 15s Indoor Chance to Compete competition was decimated by late calls offs with only three schools taking part however and excellent competition followed with each school playing each other twice in a round robin format.

Play was fast and furious, 6 a side , played over nine overs per innings. Litcham School arrived as pre- tournament favourites and comfortably beat Alderman Peel in their first match who had also lost to Flegg High School. The latter then beat Litcham by 11 runs to remain unbeaten.

This set up the final match of the day with Litcham needing a big win against Flegg to secure the title. Flegg batted first and scored 193-8 which reduced to 153 after deductions for loss of wickets. Such was the competition format, where runs scored would be the deciding factor in the event of wins being equal, Litcham in effect needed to score 279 to win both the game and snatch the title. Running on virtually every ball they finish an agonising 4 runs short of their target and so Flegg High School ( pictured ) were crowned champions in what was a thrilling end to a good day’s cricket.

Competition organiser Kevin Denmark, from The Norfolk Cricket Board congratulated Flegg on their win and also Litcham and Alderman Peel for making it a memorable day. This event is run as part of The Chance to Shine programme and is a great opportunity to provide indoor competitive cricket to players who don’t always get that opportunity. It is hoped to run the event on an annual basis.
