Norfolk Ladies Cricket Team celebrate first ever sponsorship deal

Women’s Cricket in Norfolk has received a timely boost ahead of the 2015 season with the announcement that the Norfolk Ladies Cricket Team will be sponsored by HSBC – Commercial.

Norfolk Ladies compete in Division 4 of the Royal London Women’s County Championship and the team have high hopes of promotion to Division 3 as the young but settled squad gradually matures and develops. The team will also compete in the ECB National T20 competition and are also due to play several development games against other counties.

Norfolk Cricket Development Manager Kieron Tuck commented, “We are delighted that HSBC have decided to support our County Ladies Team in 2015. It is a vote of confidence in the structure and opportunities that the Norfolk Cricket Board now provide for Women’s Cricket locally and also reflects the strength and profile that the Women’s game now has nationally. This is the first time that the team have had a sponsor and the support offered by HSBC will ensure that an expanded programme of games can be offered to enable squad players to be developed more effectively. The team will also have brand new kit for the 2015 season.”

“The County Team is of course the pinnacle for players in Norfolk, but we also run U13 and U15 County Girls Teams, and are seeing a rapid expansion of Women’s Cricket in the County. Since 2011 the number of Women’s Club teams has grown from 3 to 10, and most of these teams play regularly in the NCB’s Summer leagues and also the new winter Indoor Competition which has proved hugely successful.”

Simon Oxley from HSBC said, “On behalf of HSBC we are delighted to have the opportunity to support Women's cricket in Norfolk and wish the team every success in their 2015 County campaigns”.

Team Manager Kevin Denmark said ‘The team are really looking forward to the season ahead and are delighted with how their new kit looks. The season opened in spectacular fashion on Sunday with an emphatic victory over Northumberland Ladies on Sunday by 91 runs with Emily Woodhouse top scoring with 50 not out and Bethan Cornell taking 4-7 from her 6 overs. ‘

Their next fixture is against Cumbria at Fakenham CC on 25th May. A full fixture list can be found on the NCB website at
