Norwich CEYMS – Norfolk Girls U15’s 2015

Norfolk vs Lincolnshire – Sunday 24th May – Saxlingham CC

NORFOLK WON BY 25 RUNS

Norfolk 97-4 from 30 overs (reduced due to rain break)

Lincs 72 All Out from 23.2 overs

Highlights: Robyn Edge 26, Beth Harmer 25, Jade Hoyte 18*, Georgina Dunkinson 6-2-8-5

Norfolk won the toss and elected to bat on a slightly green but firm wicket. After the early loss of Aimee Palmer, Robyn Edge and Beth Harmer settled in to keep Norfolk ticking along at 3 an over with some nice boundaries and sensible running. Jade Hoyte joined Beth and continued to punish the bad ball. Hanna Free joined Jade just before the heavens opened on 26.3 overs and an early tea was taken. With the rain continuing until 4pm, it was agreed to reduce the overs to 30 overs per side. Leaving just 3.3 overs left in the innings, Hanna (7*) and Jade (18*) pushed the score on with some great running, to 97-4.

With the sun making a welcome return, Norfolk took to the field knowing it would be tough to defend the required run rate of just over 3 an over. Lincs were firm favourites at 32 without loss, Palmer unlucky to find the edge many times without reward. Georgie Dunkinson was brought on and made an immediate impact. She bowled a superb line and length and aided by some great catching, took 5-8 in a superb display. Jemma Parsons and Lucy Morton went on to take a wicket a piece, and a stunned Lincs side were bowled out with 6.3 overs to spare for 72.
