Chance to Shine summary 2015

The Norfolk Cricket Board runs a successful Schools programme that is funded in the main by the Chance to Shine Charity.

 

This programme is geared towards not only introducing children to cricket, and encouraging them to join local clubs, but also the develop a passion for the game, develop leadership skills and a sense of fair play. In addition the training of teachers and a focus on the use of competition in the programme are key elements in creating a sustainable legacy of cricket in schools.

 

Some of the key results from the 2015 programme are as follows:

 

*   The programme engaged 48 Primary Schools and 24 Secondary Schools in 2015
*   Over 3,000 children were given the opportunity to play cricket in their school
*   There were 4 Club Based projects in the programme (Dersingham, Old Buckenham, Norwich, Garboldisham)
*   6.4% of the children engaged went on to join a local club
*   65% of children were interested in joining a local club
*   98% of children enjoyed their school sessions
*   An Assembly Visit was carried out in 88% of schools
*   Each school played (on average) 25 Intra School Matches in the programme
*   An average of 6 Inter School Matches were played by each school
*   60 Teachers attended informal cricket training sessions to increase their cricket delivery confidence
*   35 teachers attended official ECB Cricket For Teachers courses
*   70 children were trained up as Cricket Young Activators

 

The work now starts on creating a successful programme for 2016!
