Flegg High School in East Norfolk near Martham, Great Yarmouth have been crowned national award winners after they attended the annual 'Chance to Shine Awards' which were held at Nomura Bank in London on Thursday 7th October 2015.

Flegg won the category of 'High School of The Year 2015' at the event hosted by Mark Nicholas. Other special guests at the award dinner included England cricketer Sam Billings and England Women Cricketers Kate Cross and Tammy Beaumont.

Flegg were recognised because of their outstanding enthusiam and passion towards cricket and in particular their girls teams within the school which was set up through the Chance to Shine Programme & Norfolk Cricket Board through the High School Satellite Scheme. The satellite club has now completed 2 seasons and has gone from strength to strength in this time with Flegg now having a girls cricket club with over 30 girls from year 7 to year 11 regularly attending sessions and playing indoor fixtures.

The Girls U15 also team finished 4th in the country earlier in 2015 after competing in the Indoor Lady Taverners Competition 2015. They were 1 of 5 teams who were lucky enough to reach finals day which took place at the MCC Indoor School at Lords. They had won both the county and regional events to reach this stage.

The Norfolk Cricket Board were delighted with the girls achievements over the past few years and hope that cricket at the school can continue to grow over the coming years.
