The Clare School comfortably retained The Harford Attachments trophy for the third year running after two hard fought days of Table Cricket held at The Norman Centre in Norwich.

The game is growing in popularity in The County where this year eight teams competed, the highest number ever. Independence Matters were represented by the day centre’s at Sprowston & Dereham, The Assist Trust entered two teams, together with NANSA and in addition to The Clare School there were also two ‘All Stars’ teams made up from independent players accompanied by their carer’s.

This has all been made possible by the generosity of local Norwich based businessman Steve Kidd from Harford Attachments who sponsors the competition and whilst we end up with a winning team the event is all about having fun and giving players the opportunity to play an adapted form of cricket based on a table tennis table.

The batsmen can hit four’s and sixes with a replica bat with the bowlers looking to dismiss the batters in the traditional way with fielders spread around the table. The Clare School won all seven of their matches with The All Stars team declared runners-up and in the plate competition The Dereham based team were narrow winners over the team representing NANSA.

Competition organiser Kevin Denmark from The Norfolk Cricket Board was delighted with how things went and described the competition as ‘one of the best of many events we run during the year’.

Steve Kidd, from Harford Attachments, said ‘It is just fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves in a fun but competitive environment’.

The winning Clare School captain Ashley is pictured with the trophy together with Steve Kidd and Kevin Denmark. All the players received a certificate and spirit of cricket stickers with also winners and runners-up medals.

There are also pictures of the winning team and a group picture of all the players who took part. (Attached at the bottom of the page)
