Norfolk U10 vs Nottinghamshire U10 - Wednesday 31st May - North Runcton CC


Nottinghamshire U13:

NFU Mutual Norfolk U13: 125 All Out from 30.1 Overs

Norfolk Under 10's sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch welcomed Nottinghamshire Under 10's on a glorious day to North Runcton CC.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first on a great looking wicket and made a good start with openers A Smith and H Styring. Norfolk made the breakthrough when Johnny Shaw bowled A Smith (22) and then had J Hughes (4) LBW soon after. Nottinghamshire opener H Styring was still batting well but Norfolk took two further wickets the other end with Lewis Reeder taking a catch off Sushant Singh to remove R Azam (4) before Reeder ran out F Ahmed (15). A tight spell of bowling by Billy Keeler was finally rewarded when he bowled H Styring for an impressive 41. Nottinghamshire finished on 152 for 5 from their 40 overs.

The Norfolk reply started brightly and the innings as a whole included some excellent running between the wickets. Although always up with the run rate, Norfolk unfortunately lost wickets regularly throughout the innings. Captain Lewis Reeder and Sam Reynolds shared the best partnership of 41 runs before Reynolds was run out for 18. A 9th wicket partnership between Reeder and Rory Richardson of 22 took Norfolk to 119 before Richardson was bowled for a determined 6. With the score on 125 Norfolk lost their last wicket leaving them 27 runs short with 9.5 overs still remaining. Lewis Reeder finished unbeaten on an excellent 36 not out.

Norfolk U10 vs Suffolk U10 - Friday 2nd June - Topcroft CC

Suffolk U10: 62/9 from 22.5 Overs

Norfolk Under 10's sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch welcomed Suffolk to Topcroft CC.

Suffolk lost the toss and Norfolk had no hesitation in batting first on a good looking wicket. Norfolk openers Amos Coates and Thomas Robson started positively with 21 off the first 4 overs before Coates was caught for 11. Captain Lewis Reeder joined Robson as the pair ran well between the wickets and punished the loose ball. Thomas Robson brought up his fifty before the pair brought up the 100 run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Thomas Robson was finally run out for a superb innings of 60. Johnny Shaw looked in fine touch scoring quickly before he was caught for 12. Soon after Lewis Reeder was trapped LBW for an excellent knock of 40. Late contributions from Adam Robson (12), Sam Reynolds (14), Will Panter (1) and Billy Keeler (5) saw Norfolk set a total of 195/7.

Suffolk's reply started well with Freddie Dyer hitting three boundaries off the first over. From that point on though Norfolk got firmly in control of the match with both openers Will Panter (5.5-1-25-3) and Lewis Reeder (5-2-4-2) taking two wickets apiece with excellent pace bowling. Johnny Shaw took the next wicket bowling tightly (3-2-1-1) with Sushant Singh another (3-0-7-1). Two great run outs from Harry Grove and Amos Coates kept Norfolk in control and when Will Panter returned to take his third Suffolk were 62 for 9 off 22.5 overs. At this point the umpires had no choice but to take the players off the field as the rain started to fall.

The Norfolk players were disappointed not to get the final wicket but their team performance up to this point was impressive which was more important than the result. The team now look forward to Bedfordshire away on Sunday 18th June.


Bedfordshire U10 vs Norfolk U10 - Sunday 18th June - Caddington CC


NFU Mutual Norfolk U10:
Bedfordshire U10: 75 All Out from 29.3 Overs

Norfolk Under 10's sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch travelled to Caddington to play Bedfordshire.

In very hot conditions the home team won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket that had very short boundaries. Both openers Will Panter and Lewis Reeder were getting a lot of bounce with their pace but it was a splendid direct hit run out from Adam Robson that claimed the first wicket. Johhny Shaw soon then took the 2nd with a good catch from Sushant Singh. Sam Reynolds clean bowled the key wicket of the captain Rohit Mehmi before he and Adam Robson ripped through the middle order with impressive tight bowling, Reynolds took 3 for 8 and Robson 3 for 5. Lawrence Williams and Sushant Singh came on to take the last two wickets as Bedfordshire were bowled all out for 75 in 29.3 overs.

In reply Norfolk lost both openers early on, Harry Thomas (3) and Sam Kassulke (5) but an excellent unbroken third wicket partnership of 57 between Menuka Jayakody (30 no) and Captain Lewis Reeder (28 no) took Norfolk to victory and seal a fantastic all round team performance.

Northants U10 vs Norfolk U10 - Sunday 9th July - Corby CC


NFU Mutual Norfolk U10:
201/5 from 40 Overs
Northants U10: 163/7 from 40 Overs

Norfolk U10's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch, travelled to Corby to face Northamptonshire.

Norfolk lost the toss and were asked to bat first. After losing an early wicket Amos Coates and Thomas Robson steadied the innings, taking the score to 45 before Coates was unfortunately run out for 24 when looking in good form. Captain Lewis Reeder joined Robson with Reeder rotating the strike while Robson punished anything loose. Robson brought up his fifty before going on to make an excellent 68 which ended a superb 3rd wicket partnership of 117 to set up the innings. Lewis Reeder (53) then went on the attack in the final few overs and brought up his fifty as Norfolk finished the innings on 201/5.

In the Northants reply Reeder took an early wicket but the home side were progressing steadily. A double bowling change though produced two wickets in two overs with Lawrence Williams and Sam Reynolds striking. Charlie Carroll (34) was looking dangerous for the home side but he was removed by Amos Coates the game turned Norfolk's way before Coates (3 for 22) claimed another two wickets and Adam Robson one.

Northants finished on 163 for 7 leaving Norfolk to claim a notable victory by 38 runs.

Norfolk U10 vs Cambridgeshire U10 - Sunday 16th July - Rocklands CC


Cambridgeshire U10: 96 All Out
NFU Mutual Norfolk U10: 97/4 from 26 Overs

Norfolk Under 10's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch, welcomed Cambridgeshire to Rocklands CC on a dull and damp day.

Captain Lewis Reeder won the toss and inserted the visitors. Will Panter and Reeder bowled a quick and disciplined opening spell to reduce Cambs to 15 for 3 from 10 overs. Both taking a wicket each and Panter also a run out. From that point on Cambs struggled to score freely against the Norfolk attack until the last few overs when some late hitting took the score to 96 all out. All bowlers bowling well with the wickets shared between Singh (3), Reeder (2), Coates (1), A Robson (1), Panter (1).

In reply, Norfolk too lost three early wickets following good spells from both the Cambs openers. Norfolk then consolidated before losing their fourth wicket when Menuka Jayakody was run out for an excellent 25. Lewis Reeder (21no) and Sam Reynolds (21no) then led Norfolk to victory with some excellent running between the wickets with 14 overs to spare and 6 wickets in hand.

Suffolk U10 vs Norfolk U10 - Wednesday 26th July - Woolpit CC


Suffolk U10: 86/7 from 35 Overs
NFU Mutual Norfolk U10: 87/7

Norfolk U10's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch, travelled to Woolpit to play Suffolk on a dull and damp day.

Captain Lewis Reeder won the toss and inserted the visitors. Suffolk struggled against the Norfolk attack with all bowlers bowling well and after their 35 overs had reached 86 for 7. Wickets went to Jayakody (1 for 2), Keeler (1 for 9), Williams (1 for 6), Reynolds (2 for 4), Shaw (2 for 10). Sam Reynolds also took two excellent catches at slip.

After losing an early wicket, two lovely knocks from Harry Grove (29) and Thomas Robson (27) had taken Norfolk to 56 for 1 before the introduction of leg spinner Archie Magnus. A tremendous spell of 5 for 9 put the game in the balance before some determinded defending from Sam Kassulke and attacking batting from Lawrence Williams (15 no) took Norfolk to victory by 3 wickets.

NFU Mutual Norwich Branch Norfolk U10 Mini Tour Report

Norfolk U10's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norfolk Branch, travelled to Etwall CC to take on Derbyshire U10 for the first day of their mini tour.


As part of an ECB trial the match was played on a 16 yard pitch. Winning the toss Norfolk asked the home side to bat first.

The Norfolk bowlers ripped through the Derbyshire top order to leave them at 32 for 6, but a superb innings from H Moore (51) rescued the innings to post 112 all out. Pick of the bowlers was Will Panter with impressive figures of 4 for 6, plus there were wickets for Adam Robson (2), Sam Reynolds (2), Lewis Reeder (1), Lawry Williams (1). In reply Norfolk struggled against a strong Derbyshire attack and only Adam Robson (10) ad Lawry Williams (17) made double figures as Norfolk were all out for 64.

On the 2nd day they travelled to Attenborough CC to play Nottinghamshire, again off a 16 yard pitch.


On a wet wicket, Captain Lewis Reeder won the toss and inserted the visitors. Reeder and Will Panter ripped through the top order taking 2 wickets a piece in great opening spell. Wickets then continued to tumble with Amos Coates and Sam Reynolds taking one apiece before Panter returned to claim his third in a brilliant spell of 3 for 2. A great fielding display also included three runs out to Sam Kassulke, Lawry Williams and Lewis Reeder. Thomas Robson behind the stumps also kept superbly. Nottinghamshire posted 51 all out. Norfolk's reply started well with Johnny Shaw (19) and Sam Reynolds (11) seemingly in control, but 35 for no loss suddenly became 39 for 7 with spinner F Ahmed taking 4 for 4. It was left to the experienced duo of Thomas Robson and Captain Lewis Reeder to calm the nerves and see the side home with some great running between the wickets under the pressure and claim a great victory.

Norfolk U10 vs Huntingdonshire U10 - Friday 18th August - Old Buckenham CC


NFU Mutual Norfolk U10: 183/6 from 40 Overs
Huntingdonshire U10: 97 Al Out from 31.4 Overs

Norfolk U10's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich branch, hosted Huntingdonshire at the picturesque Old Buckenham CC in their final match of the season.

The visitors won the toss and invited Norfolk to bat first. After an early loss, the Norfolk innings was dominated by an 83 run 2nd wicket partnership between Sam Kassulke and Captain Lewis Reeder, before Kassulke was bowled for an excellent 37. Reeder (50) went on to score an impressive half century, his second of the season. Some late hitting from Sam Reynolds (21no) and Menuka Jayakody (20no) took Norfolk's total to 183 for 6.

The visitors innings was built around Harry Gilmans innings of 44 not out as the other batsmen struggled against the Norfolk bowling attack. Huntingdonshire were all out for 97 with two wickets apiece for Sam Reynolds, Johnny Shaw, Harry Thomas, Harry Grove and one apiece for Sushant Singh and Lewis Reeder. A good result to complete a great season for the squad who have improved immensely throughout the summer.
