Norwich School announce new partnership with Sussex CCC

New East-Anglia-wide Cricket Academy at Norwich School in Partnership with Sussex CCC

Sussex County Cricket Club have recently partnered with Norwich School to bring a free cricket academy, available to all, to East Anglia.

The aim of the partnership is to provide a pathway for talented cricketers in the East Anglia area to be involved in an elite development programme, which it is hoped will lead on to them becoming first-class cricketers or international women’s cricketers. They will benefit from top level coaching and support at the impressive facilities at Norwich School.

The academy will be open to both boys and girls aged between 10 and 16 years from across the eastern region and consists of a two-tier system, as explained below:

Elite Squad - this will comprise of a small group of cricketers who the academy coaches believe have the capabilities to progress to a first-class county or beyond. Academy coaches will look for cricketers with not only technical ability but also those that show a willingness to learn and have the mental capacity to deal with an extremely testing programme.

Development Squad - this group will comprise of talented cricketers between the ages of 10 and 16 who the academy coaches believe have potential to play at a high level. It is expected that cricketers will progress from the Development Squad to the Elite Squad.

Entering the academy - trials and selection will take place in September, with the academy sessions running from October to March.
