Norfolk U11's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch, made the journey to Spalding CC to face Lincolnshire.

Having lost the toss Norfolk were asked to bowl first on a dry wicket considering all the rain. The hosts never looked like posting a large total and were always kept in check by the accurate Norfolk attack. Sam Reynolds was the pick with an impressive 4 for 14 while both openers bowled with good pace and control, Adam Robson 5-2-7-0 and captain Lewis Reeder 8-2-8-1. Lincolnshire closed on 106 for 8 from their 40 overs.

Norfolk found their reply a struggle with the bounce getting lower. Menuka Jayakody made 13 at the top of the order before a flurry of wickets left Norfolk on 53 for 4. Lawry Williams joined Sam Kassulke and the pair took Norfolk to the verge of victory before Williams was dismissed for a solid 18. Another wicket fell before Sam Reynolds hit the winning runs in the 36th over. The backbone of the Norfolk innings was opener Sam Kassulke who batted through for a staunch 43 not out as Norfolk won by 4 wickets.

Norfolk U11 vs Huntingdonshire U11 - Sunday 27th May 2018 - Rocklands CC

Norfolk U11's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch, hosted Huntingdonshire at Rocklands CC.

Norfolk won the toss and batted first but lost an early wicket with Sam Kassulke bowled for 4. The 2nd wicket partnership of 36 was looking promising before Lewis Reeder fell for 16. Norfolk then lost wickets regularly through attacking shots and run outs while at the other end Thomas Robson held the innings together. Robson received good support from Rory Richardson (10) and his brother Adam (11) before the Norfolk innings closed on 140 with over 5 overs still remaining. Thomas Robson finished with an excellent 69 not out.

In reply Huntingdonshire were very patient throughout but looking to punish anything loose. Adam Robson was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 15 plus there was a wicket for Sushant Singh and Johnny Shaw as Norfolk made the visitors work for the below par total. The visitors reached their target with 14 balls to go and won by 5 wickets.

Norfolk U11 vs Nottinghamshire U11 - Tuesday 29th May 2018 - North Runcton CC

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE WON BY 85 RUNS

Norfolk U11's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch, hosted Nottinghamshire on a cold and overcast day at North Runcton CC.

Norfolk won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. Sam Reynolds took a wicket first ball but opener A Smith made 30. Tight bowling from the Norfolk bowlers kept the visitors in check well. Some late big hitting from B Lowe (26) increased the Notts total while the patient No 4 H Styring kept the innings together with an excellent 53no. Wickets went to Sam Reynolds (3), Sushant Singh (2), Lewis Reeder, Adam Robson and Harry Grove 1 each. Nottinghamshire finished on 172 for 9.

Norfolk's reply never really got going and lost wickets at regular intervals against the quick Notts opening attack. Leg spinner F Ahmed took 3 wickets in his first 10 balls as Norfolk were bowled out for 87. Thomas Robson (14), Lawrence Williams (13) and Adam Robson (14) were the main contributors to the Norfolk innings.

Cambridgeshire U11 vs Norfolk U11 - Sunday 10th June 2018 - St Giles CC


CAMBRIDGESHIRE WON BY 9 WICKETS

Norfolk U11's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch, travelled to play Cambridgeshire at St Giles CC.

Norfolk won the toss and batted first but found run scoring difficult with the slow outfield and low bounce on the wicket. Menuka Jayakody opened and held the innings together until he was out in the 32nd over for 33. A late flurry from Jack Garner (13no) took Norfolk to 97 all out in the 39th over.

In reply the home side never looked in too much danger despite Norfolk changing the bowlers around and reached their target for the loss of 1 wicket in the 22nd over.

Norfolk U11 vs Suffolk U11 - Sunday 17th June 2018 - Norwich CC (Ingham)

Norfolk U11's, sponsored by NFU Mutual Norwich Branch, welcomed neighbours Suffolk to tranquil Ingham.

Norfolk won the toss and elected to bat first on a great looking wicket. Norfolk batted positively throughout and kept at a good rate all innings. Opener Menuka Jayakody batted well for 28 as did Jack Rowley on debut also for 28. Adam Robson's knock of 48 not out was the key for Norfolk however, batting with real confidence. Robson was well supported by Harry Grove (15 no) at the end of the innings as the pair put on 46 in the last 6 overs. Norfolk posted an impressive 193 for 7.

Norfolk's opening pair of Lewis Reeder (1 for 14) and Sam Reynolds (1 for 10) bowled with great pace, removing both openers and putting the pressure on the visitors. Sam Kassulke conceded just 5 runs from his 5 overs while Adam Robson took 1 for 13. Spinners Sushant Singh (2 for 5) and Harry Grove (2 for 19) bowled really well to keep Norfolk in control while Jack Rowley took a wicket towards the end.

A late rally from Suffolk took their score upto 105/8 to leave Norfolk winners by 88 runs.

Norfolk U11 vs Northants U11 - Sunday 1st July 2018 - Great Witchingham CC

Norfolk U11's, sponsored by NFU Muttual Norwich Branch, followed up their recent victory over Suffolk with another good win over Northamptonshire at Great Witchingham CC.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. Northants scored well early on but the introduction of Sushant Singh slowed the rate with a terrific spell of 3 for 25. From 84/3 from 21 overs the visitors collapsed to 123 all out with tight bowling all round. Wickets also fell to Jack Garner (2) and one each for Sam Reynolds and Amos Coates while there were also 3 run outs. Thomas Robson was in great form behind the stumps conceding no byes, taking 2 catches and 1 stumping.

In reply Norfolk lost Amos Coates (1) early on but recovered well only to lose Menuka Jayakody (12) and Thomas Robson (12) in quick succession. At 37 for 3 Norfolk needed to stabilise. A good partnership of 38 for the 4th wicket between Lewis Reeder and Sam Kassulke took Norfolk to 75 before Reeder was superbly caught one handed by Lewis Shelton. Jack Rowley joined Kassulke and look assured until a misunderstanding led to Rowley being run out for 10. Johnny Shaw (7no) joined Kassulke and finished the game quickly with Kassulke not out for an excellent 44 and an superb 5 wicket victory for Norfolk.

Suffolk U11 vs Norfolk U11 - Wednesday 25th July 2018 - Exning CC

NORFOLK WON BY 102 RUNS

Norfolk visited Suffolk on a sweltering hot day at the picturesque Exning CC and won by 102 runs.

Norfolk won the toss and batted first with openers Menuka Jaykody and Amos Coates setting the foundations with 36 off 10 overs. Jayakody fell first for 29 before Coates brought up his maiden half century for the County before going on to score 74. Thomas Robson played at attacking knock also bringing up a half century in his innings of 59. Laurence Williams made 17 and a late flurry from Lewis Reeder with 20 not out took the score to 247 for 7 from 35 overs.

In reply Suffolk found it difficult against great opening spells from Sam Reynolds and Lewis Reeder which set the tone as Norfolk kept on top throughout the innings. Suffolk struggled to keep up with the run rate but batted sensibly not giving their wickets away. Suffolk closed on 145 for 6 with wicket takers Lewis Reeder 7-1-15-1, Adam Robson 4-1-9-2, Johnny Shaw 4-0-22-1, Sushant Singh 4-0-11-1 and Harry Grove 5-0-33-1.

Norfolk U11 vs Bedfordshire - Thursday 26th July 2018 - Old Buckenham CC

BEDFORDSHIRE WON BY 35 RUNS

Norfolk welcomed Bedfordshire to Old Buckenham for their second match in as many days and were asked to field in very hot conditions.

Both openers Sam Reynolds and Lewis Reeder took a wicket apiece in their tight opening spells before Bedfordshire started to accelerate in the middle overs with Cassius Hudson scoring 57 for the visitors before Reynolds returned and had him LBW. Sushant Singh then bowled a great spell to take 4 wickets but Norfolk were left to rue missed chances as Bedfordshire posted 168 all out. Wicket takers were Sam Reynolds 7-0-34-2, Lewis Reeder 7-0-20-1, Sushant Singh 7-0-17-4 and Sam Kassulke 4-0-12-1.

In reply Norfolk started well but only had four batsmen reached double figures, Menuka Jayakody (27), Thomas Robson (19), Lewis Reeder (18) and Adam Robson (29no) with the visitors spinners taking the majority of the wickets. Two unfortunate run outs didn't help Norfolk's cause either as Norfolk were bowled out for 133, 35 runs short with 6.3 overs still remaining. On the whole though Norfolk can be proud of their efforts over the two games in two days in sweltering hot conditions.
