Why Dave?

David is a well known and respected part of the Norfolk cricket scene and has been for many years, occupying many coaching and administrative roles with some success.

Since qualifying as a Level 2 coach he has been instrumental in the rise of Topcroft CC, not only as a club that has risen through the leagues, but also one that has grasped the opportunities to engage with diverse participants within the community, and really make the club a fun place to be for players and family.

The club have for some years had successful youth teams at all age groups that have largely been instigated and managed by David. The club also had the distinction of first identifying Jaik Mickleburgh, who went on to spend several successful years at Essex CCC.

In addition to this, the club, under David’s direction and support, has set up and run a successful local youth cricket festival for clubs in the area across several age groups, providing an additional competitive opportunity for players in the area.

Topcroft CC have also engaged actively in the ECB All Stars programme as well as the U19 T20 where the matchday experience is widely regarded as the best in the successful Norfolk competition. David has been a key part of ensuring that the players involved have had the best possible experience.

The club also run successful Women & Girls teams and David also had a part to play in the large ECB Women’s Softball Festival in 2017 which had 45 women attending.

In the last two years David has also taken on the role of County U10 Manager and the team has been particularly successful under his stewardship. He is now moving to U11’s and NCB expect another successful year.

Also in the past David has been the administrator for the largest county youth competition run by the Norfolk Cricket Alliance, and he still sits on the Alliance committee.

Overall David has played a massive role in developing young players and opportunities for them to play at the right level and in an atmosphere that is conducive to them developing a love of the game for now and the future.
