Norfolk Cricket to play hard ball with new charity partners

Norfolk Cricket Board (NCB) and Norfolk based Testicular Cancer Charity ‘It’s on the Ball’ are delighted to announce a new major partnership arrangement for 2019.

The charity seeks to increase awareness amongst men of the condition and also to develop improved support for those suffering from this form of cancer. The partnership will see ‘Its on the Ball’ directly sponsoring the NCB Over 40 Cricket League as well as the NCB Breckland Indoor Cricket League. In addition the NCB will assist the charity in spreading its message across the cricket network in the county through club communications and meetings, plus having a presence at other key events such as the U19T20 County Finals.

Kieron Tuck, Development Director for the NCB stated, “We are so pleased to partner with ‘It’s on the Ball.’ Clearly being a local charity fitted well with our purpose in the local community and of course this is such an important message that we feel as a sport we can really help with given the reach we have with the thousands of men who play cricket every week in the summer at our 100 cricket clubs. Hopefully we can play a part in ensuring that men are more aware of the condition and how to pick up any symptoms and seek early advice from the relevant medical professionals.”

Vince Wolverson, Chairman of ‘It’s on the Ball’ Charity commented, “We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Norfolk Cricket Board throughout the coming year. This is a great opportunity for us to get our message for men to check themselves regularly for the signs and symptoms of Testicular Cancer out to a large number of men across the county.  98% of Testicular Cancers are successfully treated if detected in the early stages and this is why it is so important for men to check themselves. We are really look forward to meeting many of the players and club staff during the season and working together.”
