Registration open for NCB 'Cozens-Hardy' High School hardball knockout competitions 2019

Norfolk Schools’ Cricket Competitions: Summer 2019

There have been three important changes in arrangements for high schools’ cricket cups for summer 2019.

Firstly, we welcome Cozens-Hardy as sponsors of all our competitions; we are delighted to have established this new partnership.

Secondly, an additional competition has been added this year: for girls’ at U15 level to enable all those up to and including Year 10 pupils to participate; this is a hardball competition which is designed to complement the successful softball festivals of recent years.

Thirdly, the ECB regulations relating to pitch lengths in junior cricket come into force this summer. To summarise these briefly: u14 and u15 competitions will continue on 22 yard pitches; u12 and u13 will play on 19 yard pitches; and u11s will play on 17 yard pitches.

For summer 2019, we will be running eight cup competitions:

U11 – Open hardball competition for schools with Year 6 pupils (please contact Richard Somerford if you wish to enter)

U12 Bunbury/Blyth Cup - Open competition, with qualification for regional/national competition in 2020 for winners

U12 Scot Chad Cup – For state schools only

U13 Calder Cup  – Open competition for all schools

U14 ECB/Sleigh Cup – Open competition, with qualification for regional/national competition in 2018 for winners

U14 T20/Norfolk Shield – Competition for state schools only (all semi-finalists to qualify for a ‘finals day’)

U15 ESCA T20 – Open competition for all schools with qualification for regional/national competition later in summer for winners (all semi-finalists to qualify for a ‘finals day’)

U15 GIRLS T20 – Open hardball completion for all schools

For the coming season these competitions will be organised by:

John Chilvers
(u12 and u14 and girls) – alexandjohn5@btinternet.com
Richard Somerford (u11, u13 and u15) – richard.somerford@sky.com

Key Information:

- Entry fees have been confirmed as £10 per competition - cheques payable to 'Norfolk Cricket Board Ltd'.

- Finals will be arranged by the NCB competition organisers: venue and umpiring costs will be met and balls will be provided.

- The rules for wet weather cancellations should ensure that games are played to schedule - a back-up date should be arranged for the agreed date which should be as soon as possible after the agreed date; in the event of a second cancellation, the competition organiser will adjudicate.

-Other than the u15 girls’ T20, these are mixed gender competitions and the rules on the age of girls competing in these competitions are now aligned with ECB advice, which is that girls should play in their appropriate age group.

We look forward to receiving your applications for 2019. Could you please return the entry form below, together with the appropriate fee, as soon as possible – the final date for submission is Friday March 1st 2019. The draws will be made in early March to enable schools to arrange first round fixtures before the Easter holiday. The first rounds will need to be completed in early May.

Best wishes

John Chilvers and Richard Somerford
