Vetting & Barring Scheme - Information for those involved in cricket

The ECB have released a statement to reassure cricket clubs about the new Vetting and Barring scheme.

"The new Vetting and Barring Scheme's first phase, which comes into operation on October 12, 2009, has attracted much attention in the media this week but will not have any impact on vetting processes currently in cricket."

"Changes in cricket may come when the next phase of the proposals to protect children and vulnerable people come into force in July 2010 - but even these proposals will be rolled out over a five year period. "

"The ECB are members of the Sports Consultative Group for the scheme. Sports Specific guidance is currently being written by Government and the ECB expect to see this towards the end of autumn. Following the release of this guidance to the ECB, cricket specific information for clubs and leagues will be published."
