Norfolk Clubs hit the mark

Norfolk Cricket Club development continues apace, with ten new clubs joining the ranks of those holding the prestigious ECB Clubmark accreditation. This now brings the total number of clubs within Norfolk to hold the accreditation to 28, nearly a quarter of the total number of clubs in the county.
Five of the new clubs are Norfolk Cricket Board Focus Clubs, but all have undergone significant work and changes at their clubs to reach the high standards required to become accredited. The Norfolk Cricket Board, through the Cricket Development Manager and a network of Clubmark Nominated Officers has supported the work over the last 12 months to help these clubs achieve this standard. Cricket Development Manager Kieron Tuck commented:
“If a club achieves Clubmark accreditation you know they are doing things well. It is an indicator that they have robust club management in place and sound operational procedures. It also shows that their Youth sections are of a high priority and are run in a child friendly and equitable way by suitably qualified coaches and volunteers. You can be confident of getting a quality cricket experience at a Clubmarked club, and parents do look for this when selecting a club for their child to play at”.
“Not all clubs who start down this road actually reach the end as a great deal of work is involved so it is important to recognise the development and improvement that these clubs have shown as a result of going through this process. The NCB would encourage any club looking to develop its operation and in particular youth section to undertake Clubmark, regardless of their size.”
The clubs that have achieved accreditation for the first time in 2009 are Bradenham, Brooke, Diss, Swaffham, Norwich, Great Witchingham, Downham, Cromer, Sprowston and Saxlingham. In addition to this, 2 clubs have been successfully re-accredited (required every 3 years), and they are Fakenham and Hales.
