Kevin Denmark joins the NCB as Cricket Development Officer

The Norfolk Cricket Board has entered a new era in 2010 with the employment of Kevin Denmark as the Board’s first directly employed Cricket Development Officer (CDO).

As CDO, Kevin will report to Kieron Tuck as Cricket Development Manager, and be responsible for delivering several key NCB programmes. In particular Kevin will be tackling the areas of Disability Cricket, Club Volunteer Development and Schools Coaching, along with other various cricket development activities.

The post has been funded largely through external sources, with key funding coming from Sport England (for Disability Cricket) and the Volunteer Charity ‘V’ for the Volunteer Development. A re-alignment of the NCB Schools Budget is the final key part of the funding for the post.

Cricket Development Manager Kieron Tuck commented, “The recruitment of a Cricket Development Officer is a significant and exciting step for the Norfolk Cricket Board. We are seeking to increase the capacity of the Board to deliver a range of cricket opportunities in Norfolk across a variety of areas and Kevin’s recruitment is a key part of this development. Kevin has a vast experience of Norfolk Cricket and is well known in local cricket circles, and we are excited about the enthusiasm, experience and passion for the game locally that he will bring to the role.”

On starting his role on in early January, Kevin Denmark said, “This is an ideal opportunity for me to put something back into the game locally which has brought me so much pleasure and enjoyment over the years. My extensive knowledge of the Norfolk cricket scene gives me an ideal starting base to get my teeth into the role from day one, and I can’t wait to get started and support the great work the Norfolk Cricket Board has undertaken in recent years.”

Kevin has lived locally all his life, and has played Club Cricket since aged 14 for a variety of Clubs, currently playing at Bradenham. Before that he represented the County at schoolboy and Young Amateur level. Currently he is the Manager of the County Under 16 age group and is a Level 2 coach. He was Secretary at Dereham CC for 10 years and therefore fully aware of the issues Clubs face in their day to day management and the challenges of providing cricket in the local community.

Kevin also states that any clubs in particular who would like to discuss Volunteer Development should contact him as follows: Kevin.denmark@norfolkcricket.co.uk or 07876 561388
