O 50's v Cambs 23 June 2010
O 50 ECB - Norfolk v Cambridge

Old Buckenham
23rd June 2010

For the first time ever, Norfolk played an ECB match when nothing hinged on the outcome, as
there is no way they can progress to the play-offs with defeats against Beds, Leics and Hunts, the three counties Norfolk never, ever used to lose to!

On a sweltering hot day, Norfolk had 59 on the board in 11 before Pearse (15) played on and Sayers (1) cut to gully. Dungar (34) kept the score ticking over; but it was after an untypically uncharacteristic innings from Thomas (9) that Peter Coote, having reached his hundred, and John Lund ran amok, scoring 106 in the last ten overs, Coote finishing on 152 not out and Lund 43 not out. Coote’s superb innings contained 23 fours and lasted only 122 balls.

Cambridge started well with the effervescent Ketteridge blasting 53 in as many balls. Former Cambridge opener David Baker scored 46 in 71 balls, which in hindsight cost Cambridge dearly as at one stage they were well out of it. A triple drop in one over with Lee on about 10, saw the visitors blast 100 in ten overs to put them right back in the frame. Luckily Bix’s reflexes and good bowling at the death from Bushel, saw the home team emerge winners by a meagre 8 runs against a side that has yet to record a victory over the East Anglian side.
