O 60's v Hertfordshire Match Report 22 June 2010 60 Spitfire - Norfolk v Hertfordshire

Great Witchingham – June 22nd 2010

Norfolk have never ever lost to Hertfordshire but came perilously close, a margin of 16 runs, not really doing the visitors justice.

Norfolk’s opening pair, Paul Rice and Martin Pearse gave them their regulation superb start with 89 in 16 overs, before Rice was caught for 53. John Lund (10) made a very are early mistake but Richie Davies (49) took over after Pearse on 52 departed at 119 –3 in the 25th over. Richard Taylor back in the side, followed his natural instincts and master-blasted 65, with Peter Brown back on track with a cameo 18 not out, the home side totalled 263-6.

Hertfordshire needed Ted Levey to bat through for a big hundred and he very nearly did. Only a stunning boundary catch by Geoff Saunders saw Levey off with a mere 77 with the score on 168-4 in the 32nd over. Tyler proved difficult to dislodge till Nash caught him in the deep, and the visitors eventually ran out of steam 16 runs short.

Brown with 2-36, Saunders 2-43 and Ashdown 2-29 were the pick of the bowler
