60 Spitfire - Norfolk v Lincolnshire
Skegness – June 29th 2010
Norfolk’s 60+ side overcame a potentially sticky hurdle with an emphatic 9 wicket victory over Lincolnshire at Skegness. The pitch, uncovered through rain earlier, was tricky to say the least and Norfolk’s opening attack of Evan Tuck, 9-4-13-1, and Ron Ashdown pinned the home team down. Geoff Saunders, 9-5-11-1, was unplayable and with only 78 on the board after 33 overs, the home team hadn’t given themselves much of a chance. Their final total of 151-3 in their 45 overs was never, ever going to be enough as John Lund (70) and Martin Pearse (56 retired hurt) put on 122 in 32, using the time as batting practice for the match the next day. Ian Battelley, 2* and Richie Davies on an unbeaten 8, saw the visitors home in 40.1.
