O 50 ECB - Norfolk v Lincolnshire
Skegness – 30th June 2010
Norfolk’s unfortunate season came to a negative conclusion when they lost their fourth match of the Championship by 74 runs to a resurgent Lincolnshire.
The home side started slowly but accelerated in the middle order which has been the main bugbear of this year’s Norfolk team, allied with an unreliable and balanced bowling attack, compared to the 60+.
From the thirtieth over, on 141, Lincolnshire piled on the pressure scoring 114 in the last 15 overs, only Ian Bix, 9-2-20-1, will want to look at his figures. Norfolk started very brightly with Martin Pearse (31*), Peter Cooke (57) putting on 83 in 18 ahead of the home team, but a complete collapse ensued and Norfolk batted out time with Peter Thomas on 50*. With only one established newcomer available next season, Peter Gascoyne, the future looks towards 2012 when eight new players reach 50, including Steve Rowe and Rob Newman.
