Norfolk u11s V Hertfordshire U11s

Sun 1st July 2012

With Hertfordshire unable to host us, we rearranged (thanks to Chris Grisley) a home venue at Bartons Turf, we had a good wicket and good weather, if a little windy. We lost the toss again, and fielded first. Dan Arnold (2 for 25 after 8 overs) took a wicket in his first over, and kept the run rate low for the rest of his first spell. Will Grisley made a commendable decision to not bowl after his first tough over, and introduced Charlie Rogers (3 for 12 after 8 overs) whom bowled 2 wicket maidens for an average of 1.5 runs per over. The middle order bowlers kept runs down to 2 per over, but the final 10 overs saw Hertfordshire scoring rapidly to post a challenging 128/8 off their 40 overs. The batting began with Tyler Murphy who made 12, and held his wicket until the 18th over. After two early wickets Flynn Drinkell came in and hit a rapid half century with fours to every corner of the ground, eventually out for 53. The remaining runs needed were nearly all claimed by Toby Adams who was 27 not out at the end. First win of the season with 11 overs left.
