Norfolk Ladies Cricketer Proud to be Olympic Torch Bearer

Sarah McGahan, Norfolk Ladies Team member and player/coach at Garboldisham CC, carried the torch 300 metres along Alysham Road in Norwich, while her family and friends looked on.

The Norfolk cricketer was nominated for the many hours  she devotes to coaching youngesters at Garboldisham Cricket Club, her work with the village brownies and rainbows and her 500 hours of sports leadership which she achieved whilst studying GCSEs and A Levels at Diss High School.

Sarah had an amazing day, commenting “It was an overwhelming experience, really special and everyone was cheering,”

It's fantastic that Sarah was chosen to carry the torch and well deserved too.  Sarah is a brilliant role model to young girls coming through the Norfolk squads and through this event, she will have no doubt helped to highlight women and girls cricket and perhaps cricket in Norfolk altogether.
