Coach Development Workshop at Great Melton CC
The Norfolk Cricket Board recently held a very successful Coach Development Workshop at Great Melton CC. The Workshop was free to Norfolk members of the ECB Coaches Association, and was intended to offer up to date coaching techniques, drills and methods to the Norfolk Coaching Community. 15 coaches from various clubs across Norfolk were in attendance, and the hope is to enable these club coaches to stay abreast of the latest developments, and hone their own coaching skills with the aim of applying these developments in their own clubs.
The session was lead by Chris Brown, and he was supported by three other top Norfolk Coaches, Mick Piggott, Steve Goldsmith and Chris Dalton. Each of these Level 3 coaches ran a specialist session of their own with the boys and girls of Great Melton CC’s Youth Section, with the coaches attending the workshop visiting each ‘station’ to watch the way that the sessions were run, and ask questions of the coach leading that particular session. The sessions were: Batting, Fielding, Net Bowling and Strength & Conditioning.
The total workshop lasted for 2 hours and there was then a brief Q&A session at the end, covering not only the session on the night, but also any general queries on coaching and coach education in general and specific to Norfolk.
The feedback received from the coaches who came along was very positive, and all concerned, from the boys to the lead coaches had a thoroughly enjoyable time. On the back of this the NCB and Norfolk Coaches Association will aim to run further workshops during the course of the year.
The NCB would like to thank Great Melton CC for the chance to use their ground and work with their youth players to enable this workshop to happen.
