ECB Cricket Collective Update – 12/07/2024
12th July 2024
This is the second edition of The Cricket Collective bulletin, a new look, feel and name for the former Clubs and Leagues Bulletin with a renewed focus on providing cricket volunteers the most relevant information for your roles.
This update includes:
- Welcome
- The African Caribbean Cricket Festival
- ECB launches ‘Taste of Cricket’
- Become a Disability Champion Club
- 2024 Cricket Playing Survey
- ‘Blue for Bob Day’ is back on 27th July
Last month we celebrated National Volunteers’ Week, which provided an opportunity to say an enormous thank you to all the unsung heroes that give their time to deliver cricket on a weekly basis. Cricket could not exist without you.
It’s important to celebrate volunteers year round, so we have gathered five top tips from clubs and leagues below to inspire your own activity:
1. Free drinks and snacks during/after a session keep volunteers energised and feeling valued
2. Show the world – or at least your club members! – how important volunteers are by posting social media shoutouts
3. Send personalised letters – or even a text – to say thank you
4. Bring the fun by organising a social for your volunteers – this can also help encourage others to get involved!
5. Nominate your club champions for a Cricket Collective Award. You can submit a nomination through your local Cricket Board. Winners of the regional awards will automatically be entered into the National Cricket Collective Awards, with results of the 15 categories announced later this year. Find out more about the 2024 Awards here.
If there are other volunteers, helpers, or workforce members that want to join The Cricket Collective community, please do forward this email onto them. If you have any additional queries, stories or projects you want to share, please email the ECB Recreational Game Department.
Wishing you all a fantastic month ahead, filled with plenty of cricket!
Best Wishes,
ECB, Recreational Game Department
