Thinking About Becoming A Coach?   Here are your options from 2021

ECB Level 2 Certificate – Cost £300

ECB Level 2 Certificate is the existing coaching qualification which will eventually be replaced by the new ECB Foundation 2 Course in 2022.    A Level 2 certificate allows a cricket coach to work in schools and is also a pre-requisite for working for the ECB or county boards. 

Commitment

  • 8 x three-hour face to face modules (usually delivered over 3 days, taking place around Spring time)
  • e-learning modules followed by a multiple choice questionnaire 
  • six sessions of supported practice – usually in your own club coaching environment over a period of time alongside an existing Level 2 coach from your club as observer/mentor

Pre-requisites for certification

  • 18 years of age (learning programme and assessment can be completed at 17)
  • Emergency Aid certificate
  • Safeguarding Young Cricketers certificate (e-learning on course)
  • ECB Disclosure and Barring Service check
  • Passing a final practical assessment (usually at the end of the summer in September)

ECB Foundation 1 Certificate – Cost £150

ECB Foundation I Coach is a new coach development qualification that has been created to help more people take their first steps into coaching cricket.  It will be available from 2021 in Norfolk and is now the entry level qualification required to coach cricket..   

An ECB Foundation I Coach will be qualified to lead coaching sessions in a club environment independently and without supervision.     This programme has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to coach cricket sessions that are active, purposeful, enjoyable and safe.

Commitment

  • 4 face-to-face modules lasting 3 hours each
  • 7 bitesize e-learning modules lasting 10-15 minutes each
  • 3 observed coaching opportunities during face-to-face modules (no final / separate assessment)
  •  Online multiple choice questionnaire

Pre-requisites for certification

  • 18 years of age (learning programme and assessment can be completed at 17)
