NCB Discipline Reminder – 05/07/2023

5th July 2023

Over recent weeks, we have seen a sharp increase in the number of disciplinary incidents that have been reported during recreational cricket matches in Norfolk. This has meant that discipline officers have had to investigate cases and subsequently issue player suspensions and club warnings.

The Norfolk Cricket Board would like to remind clubs, players, spectators and officials of their responsibilities both on and off the pitch and encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with the General Conduct Regulations and Recreational Conduct Regulations.

Breaches of the Conduct Regulations will not be tolerated and will lead to player and club sanctions.

Play hard, play fair, respect each other, respect officials and play within the Spirit of Cricket.

The Norfolk Cricket Board have adopted the General Conduct Regulations for all activity whilst the various cricket leagues within Norfolk have adopted the Recreational Conduct Regulations and have their own disciplinary officers. We encourage all clubs and players to familiarise themselves with these regulations if they have not done so already.

Player Conduct – Expectations

Batters – walk off immediately if out or given out

Batters – do not slam bat into the ground or any other parts of the ground

Bowlers – if an appeal is unsuccessful, return to bowl the next ball

Fielders – if an appeal is unsuccessful, return to position

(Incorrect decisions by umpires will not be considered as mitigation during any disciplinary investigations)
