Norfolk Cricket League – Softball League 2021
6th March 2021
NCL Softball Cricket League U9 & U11 2021
Following the successful 2019 season for the U9 and U11 Softball, The Norfolk Cricket League, in conjunction with the Norfolk Cricket Board, is continuing the competitions for 2021, as 2020 had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also, following ECB recommendations, the formats for the games will change slightly, which involve participation numbers and pitch lengths.
As last year, it is envisaged that clubs will play the games in groups of 4, each club hosting a festival day, with group winners moving forward to a finals day, details of which will be available at the pre-season meeting in April. Entry is free to all clubs in the competition, which links strongly to the ECB All-Stares initiative.
All NCL clubs have been contacted directly, however the competition is open to all clubs within Norfolk, and I hope that this is of interest. If this is the case, please let me know by return email or not later than 21st February 2021, and advise the relevant contact, so that I can get information to you. The timetable is as follows:
NCL Clubs have been given their subscription and pre-season papers in January, and from those forms, the competition will take shape, again on a regional basis, so the more clubs that support, the greater the reduction of travelling. Once these forms are returned, then fixtures will be distributed, along with the senior and T20 fixtures and groupings. The NCL will also look to hold a pre-season meeting in April for those clubs entering the competition, and is seeking to underwrite any costs for a set of Kwik Cricket stumps and bats for entering clubs that do not have these. Details for the pre-season meeting will be sent in due course, as the meeting may have to be held via Zoom.
On behalf of the NCL, I hope that this is of interest to your club, and that you will seek to enter the competitions for 2021, which have been kindly sponsored again by Hunts County Bats.
