New ECB Safeguarding Level 2 Online Course Booking

In March 2025, ECB discontinued the ECB Safeguarding for Specialist Roles Online Safeguarding Course and replaced it with a new online Safeguarding Level 2 course.
We strongly encourage anyone involved within recreational cricket in Norfolk to complete the new course. This includes:
- Club Safeguarding Officers
- Club Captains and Team Managers
- Club Coaches and National Programme Activators
- Officials (Umpires & Scorers)
- Club Committee Members
FREE Online Safeguarding Level 2 Course
Safeguarding level 2 is the new course from the Cricket Regulator safeguarding team on behalf of the ECB, which has replaced the old Safeguarding for Specialist Roles (SSR) courses. Robust safeguarding helps to keep our cricket community safe and welcoming. This course will provide the learner with what to look out for and how to respond to concerns.
The Audience:
- Coach or activator
- Umpire or Scorer
- Committee Member
- Safeguarding Officer
- Captain or team manager
The aims and objectives of the course:
- Create a safe and inclusive cricket environment
- Describe what a safeguarding concern is
- Respond appropriately to concerns
- Describe how to report and record safeguarding concerns

NEW Safeguarding Courses Update – March 2025
Safeguarding Level 1 – SGL1 (previously ECB Safeguarding Induction)
- A 30-minute online training module provided for anyone, completed when required.
Safeguarding Level 2 – SGL2 (previously SSR + relevant bolt on)
- A 1-hour interactive online course with an assessment for everyone in a specialist role. (See table below) Please note, this has moved to one course, and “bolts on” have been removed
Safeguarding Level 3 – SGL3
A 3-hour face to face workshop led by an ECB trained tutor:
- ECB Safe Hands Workshop (Recreational Game)
- Safeguarding in the Talent Pathway (Performance Pathway / Professional Game)
