Norfolk Cricket Foundation (NCF) – Trustee opportunity
16th September 2025

The Norfolk Cricket Foundation exists to develop the game of cricket in Norfolk. Our ambition is to retain and increase participation across all pillars of the game.
The Foundation has a small workforce made up of a number of full-time, part-time, nil-hours and contracted workers. The operations of the NCF are overseen by the Cricket Development Director who works closely with the board of Trustees to deliver an ambitious strategy.
We all strive to operate within our core values to:
- Run on respect
- Embrace enjoyment
- Build belonging
- Progress with purpose
The NCF remit covers all areas of the game including working closely with our 99 affiliated clubs, supporting open-age and junior leagues, delivering a comprehensive Norfolk county-age group programme, supporting volunteer development including coaches, officials and club volunteers, running comprehensive schools programme, overseeing ECB or local initiatives/competitions, disability cricket, safeguarding, welfare and much more!
The NCF work very closely with a number of partners including ECB, other County Cricket Boards, Active Norfolk, Sport England, Local Councils, Schools, Leagues, Clubs, Sponsors and more.
Strategy
In April 2025, the newly formed Norfolk Cricket Foundation (formally Norfolk Cricket Board) launched the new strategy ‘A Game for Everyone’. The strategy mission is to ‘Create a lasting, positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities in Norfolk through the power of cricket.’
The New Strategy (2025-2028) focuses upon two clear focus areas:
- Grow, Retain and Enhance the core of the game
- Use the Norfolk Cricket Foundation to deliver a range of projects and programmes.
These two focus areas will be underpinned by outstanding infrastructure that will underpin sustainable development for Norfolk Cricket Foundation.
The NCF strategy links closely with the NEW ECB Inspiring Generations 2 Strategy which was launched in October 2024.
Their new strategy was published alongside focused action plans to remove barriers to entry to the sport and to drive equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across cricket.
The second iteration of the Inspiring Generations strategy details the ECB’s vision of becoming the most inclusive team sport in England and Wales, whilst growing and uniting the game, and leading it through global transformation.
The Role
With our recent move to a Foundation we are looking at how we can diversify our income streams so that we are not so reliant on funding from the England and Wales Cricket Board. We are currently outsourcing a lot of our finance work to a local company but feel a finance expert as a Trustee will support a full complement of skills that we need to drive our ambitious strategy forward.
The NCF aims to be effective, open and accountable in the way it operates and to achieve the highest standards. We welcome applications from anyone who shares our commitment to inspire, lead and influence the growth of cricket in Norfolk. We are looking to drive equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) through our strategy to promote high performance and engagement and make the Norfolk Cricket Foundation a great place to work and volunteer. We encourage innovative and fresh ways of thinking and recognise that by having a welcoming, supportive, safe and fair environment for everybody we enhance our capacity for innovation and creativity.
To help us achieve our ambitions we are looking to recruit one more Trustee to specialise and oversee financial aspects.
The priority for recruiting new trustees is to appoint people who have the passion, skills and experience to meet the needs of existing cricket communities whilst also creating a diverse environment to bring new people towards the game.
Currently the Trustee composition has excellent skills in the following areas:
- Facility development
- Marketing and sponsorship
- EDI
- Discipline
- Education
- Safeguarding
- Fundraising and project management
Opportunity
We would be particularly interested to hear from individuals who have passion, skills or experience relating to FINANCE.
It is not a requirement that you are already involved in cricket although a demonstrable desire to grow the game in line with our County Plan is essential.
“Having never played cricket, made the teas or prepared a wicket, this hasn’t stopped me being a part of the Norfolk Cricket Foundation for the last 5+ years. My passion and skills are to support and encourage people to connect through sport and physical activity, whether as participants, spectators or volunteers. The Norfolk Cricket Foundation is an amazing channel to allow me to do this. It doesn’t matter what you do or don’t know about cricket, whether you have played or not but what is integral is your passion to want to make a difference.” – Jane Hannah, NCF Chair
