Norfolk Young Cricketers Recognised at Annual Dinner/Awards 2024
2nd October 2024
The annual Norfolk County Age Group presentation awards were held at the end of September in the Ambassador Lounge, Norwich Airport Holiday Inn, with 230 players, parents, coaches, managers, sponsors and other invited guests in attendance, who all enjoyed a two-course dinner.
During the evening, the audience listened to season reports from each of the age groups followed by cap presentations and individual awards for any player scoring a century or taking five or more wickets in a match. This was then followed by presentations of the main annual award winners:
- The Derek Cousins Shield for services to Norfolk Youth Cricket – John Downing
- The Derek Cousins Performance of the Year – Alice Brand
- The Maurice Sills Memorial Trophy for the Boys player of the season – Oli Longdon
- The Friends of Norfolk Youth Cricket for Girls player of the season – Bella Borges
- The Louis Brooks Memorial Trophy – Lewis Reeder.
The latter award is now in its 19th year and is given to a player who has contributed to Norfolk Youth Cricket over several years – previous winners include Ollie Stone, Jaik Mickleburgh & Sam Arthurton and this year was presented by Ross Brooks.
There were two fundraising events during the evening:
- A ‘heads and tails’ with the winner receiving a signed Norwich City Shirt courtesy of Pete Dye, kit manager at The Club.
- A bat raffle for a bespoke, individual bat courtesy of David Wolstenholme, XX Cricket.
Finally massive thanks to Nina Demetriou for her impeccable organisation of the whole evening for a third consecutive year.
