Registration Open – NCB Under 10 Boys Development Programme 2024

28th November 2023

The newly created Norfolk Cricket Under 10s Boys Development programme starting in early 2024 will run out of two regionalised venues and will form part of the development pathway in Norfolk.

The programme aims to inspire and foster the raw enthusiasm that a young person has for cricket in a fun and supportive environment.

The programme will run for boys in current U9-U10 age-groups (Current School Years 4 and 5) providing access to quality coaching/training opportunities to children without the need for any trial, although we would ask that all players will have had experience of either softball or hardball match play cricket before the start of the programme.

Whilst the development programme will be linked to the Norfolk County Pathway, it is not part of the formal county age-group pathway which starts at Boys Under 11’s. The programme will have its own training curriculum over a 6-week winter block of coaching which will be followed by internal match play opportunities during the summer months.

6-Week Training Programme

Delivered by ECB qualified coaches, the training programme (6 x 1 hour sessions) will be designed to provide progressive player development into hardball cricket and will involve the use of both soft and hard cricket balls. Therefore, it is expected that all participants should have their own protective equipment to bring to every session. This includes bat, batting pads, batting gloves, abdominal protector and helmet.

Players

The programme will be open to 64 players during the first year with 32 spaces available per venue. (Max 16 Players per group) Current Norfolk Youth Cricket County players are not eligible to be apart of this programme. Players can only attend one hub location.

Registration

Players will be able to register on a first come, first serve basis for their preferred venue and then once registration has closed, each player will be allocated one of the two session times at that venue for the 6-week block. We will seek to group players based on ability/experience per venue to provide the best possible learning environment for all players involved in the programme.

Online registration will formally open on Wednesday 29th November and close on Monday 18th December. All players will be informed of their groups by Friday 22nd December.

Cost

The cost for players to be involved in the programme in 2024 will be £30 per child. There is no requirement for players to purchase clothing as part of the development programme with players encouraged to wear there club kit or other comfortable sports clothing.
