Shell Norfolk Women’s Cricket League Report 2021

4th October 2021

Great Melton Ladies CC have won the 2021 Shell Norfolk Women’s Cricket League competed for this summer by eight women’s clubs.

Gt Melton have risen from finishing seventh in the Shell league in 2019, to finishing top this season, a super achievement by the club and testament to the hard work Trish Ellse and the club have put into the woman and girls side over the years.

Having lost their opening game of the season, Gt Melton did not look back and won their remaining games they were able to complete.

Alice Brand and Rebecca Davey finished in the top four batters in the league, but a special mention to Brooke Ladies CC Samantha Tea, who finished with a fabulous average of 82.00 from her four innings.

Two Gt Melton players also featured in the top four of the league’s bowlers, with Alice Greenslade and Megan Ellse taking four wickets apiece. Ella Hill from Hethersett & Tas Valley Ladies CC finished top of the bowling averages, taking five wickets, with her best return of 4 for 12 against Brisley.

Congratulations to all of the eight teams who competed this year, and there is hope that the league may expand with a new team or two in 2022. So the NCB look forward to another exciting season next year.
